Veteran Police Detective Colin McLaren spent four years on a forensic cold case investigation which brought to light new evidence. The trajectory of the final bullet was such that it could not have been shot by someone on the 6th floor of a building. It could have only come from somewhere closer to the ground.

Several eyewitnesses on the ground in Dealey Plaza mentioned smelling gunpowder. These witnesses could not have possibly smelled gunpowder from a rifle fired from the Book Depository.

Witnesses heard Kennedy exclaim "My God! I'm hit!" If the first shot had actually been the one that hit Kennedy's neck, he would have been unable to speak.

The entry wound in Kennedy’s skull was actually smaller than the caliber of ammo that Oswald was using.

The first two shots were clearly from full-metal-jacket rounds, but the final shot seemed to be made from a softer metal.

Colin McLaren

Retired Police Detective

Author of JFK: The Smoking Gun

Colin McLaren is a retired police detective who served in Australia’s most elite crime squads solving Australia’s most horrendous crimes of the 1980s and 1990s. Part of the 14,000 strong Victoria Police department, he investigated, charged and jailed many underworld figures during those 20 years. He served on four nationally important task forces into homicides and organised crime; the longest of any serving detective sergeant or team leader of his time. He sent Australia’s Mafia godfather to jail (and 10 others) by going undercover and leading the country’s largest covert operation. McLaren’s life and crime solving have inspired multiple documentaries, a movie and a TV series. Now, with JFK: The Smoking Gun he's taking on what he considers "the Holy Grail of all cold cases" with his in-depth look at Kennedy's death.
